Fujitsu Quaderno A5 10.3 1st Gen

Quaderno is an ultra-lightweight, thin electronic paper that realizes "easiness to write" and "readability" like real paper and pen. You can import and view a huge amount of materials, and write handwritten memos and PDFs. It is a tool that combines the goodness of analog with the convenience of digital, equipped with copy and paste functions for handwritten memos and search functions. Documents created on a personal computer and a large number of documents scanned and imported can be managed collectively in PDF format (QUADERNO PC App [Note]).

The new "Quaderno" has improved "easiness to write" and "readability" while maintaining the conventional features, and its smart looks have also evolved.

The Quaderno A5 features a 10.3 inch E-Ink Carta display with a resolution of 1872×1404 with 227 PPI. It has a capacitive layer for touchscreen interactions and also one for the stylus to take notes and write on PDF files.

Underneath the hood is a Marvell IAP 140 64-bit Quad-core IoT Applications Processor,1GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage, WIFI and Bluetooth 4.2. The dimensions are 174.2 × 243.5 × 5.9 mm and it weighs approximately 240 g.

The stylus is grey and made of a brushed aluminum and has two different buttons, one to make highlights and the other is an eraser. There is no pen loop or anyway to attach it to a pocket protector, instead it has a small magnet on its side that will automatically attach itself to the Quaderno. On the top is a removable clasp that reveals a USB port, which is used for charging. It has a respectable 1,000 mAH internal battery, which is good for about one month, before you have to recharge it.

It is important to note that the Quaderno, nor the stylus have pressure sensitivity, instead there are various UI options to increase the size of the pencil/pen for drawing or shading. The default nibs are made of graphite carbon and do not wear down that fast. When you buy the Quaderno it comes with the stylus, 3 replacement nibs and a nib removal tool. The stylus itself weighs 16 grams, which is heavier than most on the market.
