KR420 Passport Scanner

Overview & Purpose
The KR420 is a high-performance, full-page passport and ID scanner designed primarily for kiosk or desktop integration. It’s built to read and verify travel documents, offering both OCR (optical character recognition) and RFID capabilities. 

Supported Documents

Compliant with ICAO 9303 standards (machine-readable zone) — supports ID-1, ID-2, and ID-3 size documents. 
Can read e-passports via RFID (contactless ICs following ISO/IEC 14443 Type A/B). 
Also supports a wide range of other documents: visas, driver’s licenses, various ID cards (including non-ICAO standard ones). 

Imaging & Light Sources

Multi-spectral imaging: uses visible light and infrared (IR, 850 nm) illumination. 
Anti-glare design to reduce reflection from holographic anti-counterfeiting film. 
Active scan area: 127 mm × 88 mm. 
Sensor: 5-megapixel CMOS (2592 × 1944). 
Imaging resolution: 500 DPI, color depth 24 bits/pixel. 
Image output formats: JPEG, BMP, PNG. 
Can crop a “headshot” photo from the chip’s data for e-passports.
